Professional liability insurance 

AXA Versicherung AG, PO box 80 02 40, 51002 Cologne. The insurance covers activities in the member states of the European Union, thereby fulfilling, at minimum, the requirements stipulated in sections 51 et seqq. of the German Federal Lawyers' Act (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung – BRAO).

Admission to the bar

The attorneys of the partnership are admitted to the bar in the Federal Republic of Germany.  They are members of the Hanseatic bar association (Hanseatische Rechtsanwaltskammer) and subject to its supervisory authority.

Professional regulations

Retainers, conflicts of interest 

The engagement agreement or retainer and any rights and obligations arising therefrom are subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany. The non-exclusive place of jurisdiction for disputes arising in connection with an engagement agreement/retainer or its effectiveness is Hamburg. 

Under the regulations governing the legal profession, attorneys are prohibited from representing conflicting interests (sec. 43a para. 4 of the German Federal Lawyers' Act (Bundesrechtsanwaltsordnung – BRAO) Before an engagement is accepted, a review is therefore always conducted to determine whether there is a conflict of interest.

Alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
